Our Story

In 1998, after over a decade of studying Islamic sciences, Shaykh Zaqir founded Darul Arqam Educational Trust with the aim of empowering under-served and isolated communities in the UK, especially focusing on strengthening the local Muslim community. Based in Leicester, Darul Arqam initially faced a gap in offering inclusive community-based activities, despite a strong presence of mosques. Over time, the trust expanded its horizons and became an internationally recognized institution. In 2019, as Darul Arqam grew into a mosque, madrassah, and community center, Shaykh Zaqir recognized the need for a channel through which people could send their Zakat and Sadaqah for maximum benefit. Witnessing the misuse of humanitarian aid, he sought to ensure that it reached the most vulnerable, which led to the establishment of Revive as a UK registered charity in February 2020. After witnessing the effectiveness of their aid initiatives, Revive quickly realized the need for sustainable aid rather than sporadic relief. They launched a bread factory, producing nearly 800,000 flatbreads in its first year, ensuring a constant supply of food to isolated refugee communities. As the economic crisis in Syria worsened, Revive doubled its efforts, producing over 1.5 million loaves annually to support these communities.
